How to switch from Slack to Discord

There's no direct importer, so the move is about recreating channels and keeping an archive of old Slack history.

Steps

1. Export your Slack workspace from Workspace settings → Import/Export Data (public channels on free plans).
2. Create a Discord server and mirror your main Slack channels as text channels inside categories.
3. Set up roles to match Slack user groups and restrict private channels by role.
4. Recreate key bots and webhooks — most Slack integrations have Discord webhooks.
5. Post the invite link in Slack, pin it, and set a cut-over date.

Watch out for

• Old Slack messages stay in the export, not in Discord
• Discord lacks Slack Connect for outside companies
